Yesterday, much of the day was spent with them out on the balcony trying to take photos of an elusive eagle. He is huge! He is also camera shy. Just when they'd come in to announce that he'd never come close for a photo, he would sweep by the balcony and they would rush out. This back and forth happened for a long time and resulted in Eskedar hiding behind the curtains at one point trying to out smart him (didn't work). Here are the photos they did capture of him. I can tell you he is much lovelier in person and as Eskedar said, she wouldn't want people trying to take her picture all the time either ("Like you in China!," we said.).
Sure enough, there they came walking along the banister completely unconcerned with all the trouble their presence just caused.
Until we post again in Axum, Eskedar has a new post up on her Kidblog site. It's on Rhino poaching in South Africa and why the Rhino horns at Botlierskop are all docked. Remember you can get to the twins' blogs through the buttons on the right or at this link. Eskedar's password is dexter and Bereket's password is soccer. Thank you to those who leave comments - they LOVE comments (even from people they don't know) and it encourages them to write more. Bereket will be writing about the Gelada Baboon while we are on the mountain and will post it in Axum.
Until then, Merry Ethiopian Christmas or Melkam Gena! We'll be celebrating Gena on the mountain on the 7th.
